Slow Cooker Hungarian Beef Goulash

This Hungarian delicious dish is the perfect family meal. This meal takes 7 hours in the slow cooker: so make sure you put it on in the morning.

  • 1 kg Braising steak
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 large white onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 smoked paprika
  • 200 ml beef stock
  • 2 peppers yellow and red
  • 400 g chopped tomatoes
  • salt and peppers


  • Heat oil in Pan.
  • Coat Beef in Flour and Salt & Pepper, then Fry until well browned.
  • Remove meat and set aside in a bowl. Now heat the Onion and cook for for 2-3mins on a medium heat.
  • Add Garlic,Tomato Puree for a further min, then add meat back in.
  • Sprinkle the Beef with the Paprika, Salt & Pepper, stir in, then add the tin of Tomatoes & Beef Stock.
  • Empty Contents into a slow cooker & cook on low for 7hrs.
  • 1/2 way through add sliced Peppers.(raw)
